Description of Nagarmotha Oil:
Cyperus scariosus, commonly known as cypriol or nutgrass, is a plant of the family Cyperaceae. Cypriol is an herbaceous plant which has angular stems, erect and short, slender, bright-green leaves. A system of dense root is formed by the aromatic rhizomes. In the industry of women’s clothing including sarees were scented with using the roots of cypriol. Nagarmusta is the local name of it in Sanskrit and in Hindi we call it Nagarmotha. In the ancient India, the priestess used to perform Vashikarana with this oil.

Chattisgarh, Odisha & West Bengal regions in India are some places where cypriol grows. In ancient times, people used to apply this oil to the forehead to relieve stress.

Common Use:
It is often used in compounding perfumes, in the manufacturing of soaps, medicine and incense sticks. It is also used as an insect repellent.
